Woodglade re-furb

The sheltered fire circle at Woodglade has been well used by workshop leaders and campers, since it was completed in 2017 for the first Roots and Wings group, led by Kathryn Jordan. But since then, the straw bales have seen better days and they are not really holding up their end of the deal as useful back rests!

The epic job of extracting the ‘moulting’ bales went to Joanna and Bea, who did an amazing job of removing them from the structure, and more impressively, carting them up the hill!

Next up has been Sofie and Bart, our wonderful Belgian volunteers, who have reinforced the structure, and with the help of Leanne and family have started weaving new back-rests from chestnut whips that were ‘waste’ material from some of the ride-widening work that went on during the winter months.

More layers will be added over the coming days, so it will again be a comfortable place to sit, once workshops resume in the spring!
