Grow Up Wild - Home-ed Forest School
Our monthly sessions have been running since September 2024, serving our existing community of Wilderness Wood families as well as welcoming newcomers from all over Sussex! It’s fair to say there’s no better setting than Wilderness Wood to let your young ones loose in the wild. There is a flexible structure to each session with seasonal craft and cooking activities interleaved with regular opportunities for developing fire lighting skills, tool work, exploration, games and free play with friends. If you’re reading this you’ll already know that spending regular lengths of time outdoors improves well being and mental health and builds resilience. Physical activities improve fine motor skills, problem solving abilities and strengthen relationships with others and with the natural world.

At this Final Harvest as we approach Samhain and deepest Autumn, can you take the space you deserve and let go 🍂
What will you allow to truly fall? To what do you wish to say Goodbye? What grief and sorrow are you carrying from the collective you wish to express? For what or whom do you wish to grieve - a person, a place, the Earth, perhaps a part of yourself?

Little Forest School - Autumn Family Forest Morning
Join Little Forest School and step into the woods this autumn and share a morning of seasonal wonder with your child. Guided by Heidi-Jo, a qualified Forest School Leader, we’ll spend time together in the crisp woodland air, surrounded by glowing leaves, smoky firelight, and the simple joys of the season.

Drama in the Woods - Autumn Camp
The October half term event is a particular favourite for the team at Drama in the Woods. For those members who love art and craft, the Autumn presents even more opportunities to make and create, as we're surrounded by all the changing colour.
But whether your child wants to run and climb, make and create or work on their performance skills, this 3 day camp will have something for everyone.

Family Roman Day

How did they light fires and whose letter about a party was found at Hadrian’s Wall? Discover the answers to these questions as well as making your own Roman Vindolanda owl pot, write your own scroll of Roman sayings and much more.

Little Forest School - Family Forest Feast
This special session is a collaboration between our Forest School leader and a guest chef, bringing together the magic of Forest School with the joy of cooking and eating outdoors.
The woods are full of playful exploration, creative activities, and time around the fire, where we’ll prepare and enjoy a delicious seasonal soup and freshly baked bread together. Everyone has a part to play — from chopping and stirring to kneading and tasting. The fire becomes our kitchen and the forest our dining room.

Join Julia for spooktacler pottery painting in the heart of Wilderness Wood.
Let your creativity run wild, painting your very own ceramic Halloween decoration to take home.

Little Forest School - Sundown Songs
The session weaves together woodland play and exploration, singing around the fire, and the shared joy of preparing a simple campfire snack. Lotte teaches harmonies gently by ear, making songs easy and uplifting for everyone to join. Her approach brings a sense of calm, connection, and grounding — a chance to pause, breathe, and share in the magic of voices rising in the woods.

Family Fungus Hunt
A fungus hunt for the whole family to enjoy, especially geared to children.

Come and get creative in the woodland this autumn with our Forest School leader, Claire. This session is designed for families to enjoy simple, hands-on Forest School crafts inspired by the season.

Witchy Wonders - Halloween Crafts
Bring your mini witches and wizards and spooky monsters and join Schools Without Walls and Jo, The Woven Owl for a morning of magical crafts. From ghostly pictures and hanging spider’s webs to your own willow wand, this workshop will start your Halloween off in magical style!
£12.50 per child with each with each additional child £10 each

Spooky Slice
Celebrate the turn of the seasons, Halloween the encroaching dark with a walk on the trail and pizza from the wonderful Cashew Catering.
Pizzas available from 11.30 until 2.30pm - Gluten free and vegan options available.
No need to book.
The Hatch is open from 10am to 4pm for drinks and refreshments.

Samhain Celebration (Halloween) - for members
Members are invited to this year’s Samhain (Halloween) celebration of the DARK with; wood-fired pizza and warming drinks from the Witches’ Hat, toasted apples and story-telling around the fire; seasonal games in the courtyard; consult the oracle in the Meeting House; songs to our ancestors; and a night-time walk out into the woods.
(Please note for members who have been before, we are not running the ‘fright hike’ of previous years, but a nature walk in the DARK woods with no torches to see what non-human creatures of the night we can discover).
Members only - but welcome to bring a friend or two. All ages welcome. Booking essential as places and pizzas are limited. Cost will be £5.00 per child to cover the costs of the activities.

Active Hope - Work that Reconnects
Join facilitator Jas Tribe in the Woodland Glade for a workshop for practising Active Hope. You will be introduced to- and guided through the ‘Work That Reconnects’, a group process designed to energise and strengthen us to take part in the healing of ourselves, each other and our world.
Together we will explore grounding practices, sharing and listening in pairs and with the wider group (max 12 people), gentle movement, nature connection, journalling and imaginative practices.

Woodblock Printing Workshop
This one-day course is suitable for beginners, as well as those who are familiar with the techniques and just want to play for a day. Perfect for making your own Christmas Cards!
Adele will show you how to carve and print from a block that you have designed. The aim being that you go home with your own original prints.

Members Winter Solstice Celebration
Members are invited to join us to mark the longest night and shortest day of the year. We will form a procession and head into the woods as the light fades to meet with music and poetry along the way. And then come back to light a huge fire and sing in the longest night.

Members’ Volunteering
Wednesday mornings 10am - 12:30 we welcome members to come and work with Jake, down in the woods.
The work ranges from forestry maintenance; coppicing and log chopping to landscaping and beautifying the woods, and sometimes something a little crafty.

Grow Up Wild - Home-ed Forest School
Our monthly sessions have been running since September 2024, serving our existing community of Wilderness Wood families as well as welcoming newcomers from all over Sussex! It’s fair to say there’s no better setting than Wilderness Wood to let your young ones loose in the wild. There is a flexible structure to each session with seasonal craft and cooking activities interleaved with regular opportunities for developing fire lighting skills, tool work, exploration, games and free play with friends. If you’re reading this you’ll already know that spending regular lengths of time outdoors improves well being and mental health and builds resilience. Physical activities improve fine motor skills, problem solving abilities and strengthen relationships with others and with the natural world.

Qi Gong
Gentle yet dynamic exercise for all ages and abilities - out on the Middle Paddock while the sun shines.

Tuesdays is Owlets with Wriggly from Little Forest School. For children aged 0-5 with their grown up.

Morning Meditation
Join Sally from Leap Mindfulness for a morning meditation circle to start your day with lightness, connection and peace. Set yourself gentle and inspiring intentions for your day and allow the woods to warmly connect with you.
All held around a fire - at the Wood Glade Shelter.

Early Qi Gong
Rowana (InnerAlchemyQigong) would live to invite you to an early morning, weekly Qigong class on Friday at 7am to 8am.
A wonderful opportunity to rejuvenate your mornings and to set a positive tone for the day
