Forest School Halloween - Wizards' spells and witches cauldrons

The Halloween holiday shares its roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced Sam-win) A Celebration to welcome the harvest, and mark the end of summer, when people light fires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts…

What will we get up to?

This workshop is being run by Heidi of Little Forest School.

Listen to one of our favourite stories “Room on the broom” by Julia Donaldson around the fire…

Make a Besom Broom from natural materials found on woodland floor ready for a witch to fly on…or sweeping the leaves!
Wicked woodland spells and weird potions to take home.  Cook a toffee apple on the fire.

DOUBLE DOUBLE

TOIL AND TROUBLE

FIRE BURN AND CAULDRON BUBBLE!!!

What to wear:

No flammable outfits please, we will be having a fire…or wear over clothes, the costume can then be taken off when we work around the fire!

As the activities will be taking place outside, you should wear comfortable clothing.
Long sleeved shirts and trousers are a good idea but not essential
Comfortable outdoor shoes
Waterproof jacket/ trousers
Hat – for warmth or a sun hat

Please bring an apple along so we can make toffee apples over the fire.
