This sold out in the blink of an eye - do join our mailing list to keep up to date with when Flo will be back turning bowls in the woods.
Join Flo for a day in the woods, turning a bowl on a pole lathe.
Using hand tools and a traditional, Viking style lathe, we will work from a log, axing out a bowl ‘blank’ and turning it on a foot powered lathe.
Pole lathe bowl turning was an endangered craft until a few years ago, the craft has now seen a resurgence and it is a wonderful thing to have a go at.
This course is suitable for beginners, but a basic level of hand tools is useful, although not essential. We will be using sharp tools, such as axes, saws and knives throughout the day.
A good fitness level is useful as it is quite a physically demanding day.
If you have turned a bowl or two before, then I can work with you to practise and perfect a specific part of the process, if you are wanting to improve. But if you have no idea what a pole lathe is but want to find out, then come along!
Tea and coffee included, bring a packed lunch, and suitable clothes for outdoor work in case the weather isn’t in our favour.
