The Wood House

The Wood House is likely the first structure you see when you enter the woods.

It was designed by owner, Dan Morrish and built by Dan and a team of volunteers who made 50,000 wooden shingles for the roof from chestnut butts from the wood and helped fit them during Working With Wood Week 2019.

If you look closesly, you will see the Wood House fits snugly between the trees in the area, and amazingly, only two trees were felled in order to fit the structure in this space. The Wood House complements The Barn on the other side of the courtyard - built in the 1980s, The Barn is also shingled with wood from the wood!

This is where visitors come to buy logs and woodland products from Andrew Coates, and is also a very handy sheltered if you get caught in the rain on the way back to your car!
