First recording of Little Castanea goes live

Ruby (13), Xandi (14) and Pippa (15) have been singing together as a close harmony trio called Little Castanea for about two years - with the help and encouragement of their musician friend and mentor, Bea Everett. They have performed regularly at events at the wood and at local pubs and on the streets of Brighton.

In July this year, they took the next step and spent two days at the The Inscape studio in London to record some of their favourite songs with musicians, Michelle and Alex (who are getting married at the wood in September).

We launched this recording at our Instead of School exhibition in July - it was met with tears of emotion! We are all very proud of their work, and you can listen to their recording here.

They will be continuing to develop their repertoire over the coming months when they meet with Bea on Tuesday afternoons and have lots of plans in the pipe line for recording some of their original songs and performing in new places. They love their music ‘education’.
